Biography
A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men (Proverbs 18:31).
The truth of this proverb has been witnessed in the ministry of Robert I.M. Soverall. Through the gift of drawing people into the presence of The LORD through music, GOD has brought Bobby (as he is affectionately called) into the presence of great men and women, particularly those in the body of Christ.
From his childhood years until now, Bobby Soverall has been instructed, inspired and impressed by the power of music. Though trained in the genre of European Classical Music, church music has always had its greatest impact on Bobby’s spiritual growth. Combined with the God-given ability to improvise, Bobby masterfully interprets the oldest of hymns as well as the contemporary repertoire.
God’s hand has been on Bobby through 22 years of piano instruction, the attainment of a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree from the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College in New York, 10 years of classroom instruction, and many years as a private instructor. Through struggle and success, failure and victory, God has prepared Bobby for a multi-faceted ministry.
From 1996-2008, Bobby served the kingdom as the musical director for Integrity Recording Artist Alvin Slaughter. This ministry and other endeavors (including the Orange Gospel Concert Series) have afforded Bobby the privilege of traveling throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, South America, Africa, The Philippines, Australia and Japan. As a result, his ministry seeks to bless and strengthen the body of Christ, regardless of denominational persuasion.
Bobby ministers as a pianist, worship leader, choral director, instructor, teacher, speaker, songwriter, producer, and recording artist. In 2009, he was ordained into pastoral ministry at The Valley Stream Baptist Church in Valley Stream, NY where he served as Minister of Music and Associate Pastor.
Pastor Soverall Bobby has recorded 6 CD’s and has authored a brief devotional entitled THE FRAGRANCE OF WORSHIP. This work provides a look into Bobby’s heart cry: to worship GOD in spirit and in truth. At present, he serves as Associate Pastor and Director of Worship and The Arts at Bethel Gospel Assembly in the historic neighborhood of Harlem, NYC.
Bobby and his wife Patricia reside in New York City and have two adult children - Judah and Rebekah. They form a family devoted to fulfilling the will of God, and obeying the voice of GOD while advancing the kingdom of God.
